Shadowing as Practice

Following on from success of the first Warwick Business School International Summer School on Practice-Based Studies this past September in Venice, we are pleased to announce that we will be holding a one-day workshop on ‘Shadowing as Practice’, which will take place on 27 March 2014 at the University of Warwick. Envisioned as the first annual ‘Winter session’ methods-focused workshop building on the Summer School, the event will be an opportunity to bring together practice-based researchers at all stages of their careers to discuss methodological challenges associated with understanding practice empirically. For this year’s inaugural edition, we are focusing on shadowing, as a rarely utilized, yet highly promising mode of engagement. We are pleased to welcome Prof. Marianella Sclavi, anthropologist and author of An Italian Lady Goes to the Bronx, as our keynote speaker.

The ‘Winter session’ event is organized by Prof. Davide Nicolini and Dr. Maja Korica and will take place from 10 am until 5 pm on 27 March 2014, on the University of Warwick campus. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 31 January 2014.
