Journal of Management Studies – An Essay Development Workshop
Workshop date: 7th May 2024, 10am EST/3pm GMT
Duration: 90 minutes
Submission deadline: 7th April 2024
The Journal of Management Studies invites you to apply for their virtual essay development workshop. The workshop will feature JMS Says and Associate editors.
JMS Says is the essay section of the Journal of Management Studies, publishing essays to provoke new thinking on the field of management. We expect essays to develop interesting and original ideas, challenge conventional wisdom or expectations, and trigger new debates and discussions for our field. Essays are not expected to develop theory, set research agendas, or rely on empirical material, rather, they should identify an original issue and be deeply personal. Further, we expect a clear and provocative argument and an explicit “call to action”. We are keen to hear from authors at all career stages, with special encouragement for junior scholars and scholars from geographically and socially marginalized communities. The JMS Says collection can be found here.
Prospective authors should submit a 300-word proposal via this online form: https://forms.office.com/e/TbaGAkdcGi The proposal will be assessed by the editorial team at which point the editors will decide whether or not to invite authors to the workshop. Participation in this workshop is free, but the capacity is limited. Only those whose abstracts have been accepted can attend the workshop. Our goal is to help scholars interested in essay writing to develop their ideas.
This workshop will include two parts. First, JMS Says editors will discuss key aspects of essay writing and engage in a Q&A and feedback session. Second, participants will be given the opportunity to sit in small groups with a JMS Editor to discuss their work and receive detailed feedback.
