Crafting high-quality JMS submissions: Insights on publishing in top-tier journals and paper development workshop
Development Workshop in Istanbul on Friday, March 7, 2025.
The workshop is designed to offer critical training for publishing in leading academic journal,
help participants polish their drafts into papers ready for submission, and create opportunities for
networking.
JMS Editors Yasin Rofcanin (University of Bath, School of Management), Chidiebere
Ogbonnaya (King’s College London), and Corinne Post (Villanova University) will share
valuable insights into the publishing process, provide guidance on crafting high-quality research
papers, and offer tailored feedback to help participants enhance their submissions to top-tier
journals.
Researchers at all faculty ranks are invited to participate. We particularly encourage early-stage
researchers, such as PhD candidates, postdoctoral fellows, and assistant professors to apply.
The event is complimentary to all participants.

The program is composed of two parts:
– Part I focuses on essential skills for academic writing and publishing, and is open for all.
– Part II is the Paper Development Workshop led by JMS Editors.
To attend Part II, you need to submit a 3,000 word proposal (details below).
In the interactive session (Part II), JMS editors will provide participants with personalized
feedback and expert guidance to refine their papers into submission-ready drafts. To apply,

PART – II
16:00 – 18:00 Paper Development Workshop

• Roundtable discussions and feedback from editors
Proposal Format:
The Format and the Requirements for the Structured Submission
• A title page including the title of the manuscript (in preparation) and the details of the
author team (names, e-mails and institutions)
• An abstract with accompanying keywords (no more than 200 words inclusive of all text)
• The body of the proposal should be 3000 words (excluding references, tables, and
figures).
• The proposal must include separate sections on a) the research question and the
motivating ideas, b) the theoretical significance and novelty of the topic, c) the
hypotheses or the propositions, d) methodology (with brief findings), e) possible
theoretical contributions and extension of the debates in JMS, f) fit with the aims, scope
and the mission of the JMS.
• Tables and Figures can be added to the Appendix; there is no word limit to the number of
documents that can be added to the Appendix.
Paper Development Workshop:
The interactive session will be in a round-table format. Depending on their topic, participants
will be assigned to one of the three roundtables. Each round-table will be guided by a JMS
editor. Participants in the same table are expected to prepare comments for each others’s work
prior to the workshop. During the workshop, each participant will give a short overview of their
work (5 minutes) and then the editor will guide the discussion in the table and provide feedback.
Depending on the number of high quality submissions, additional JMS editors may commit the
event.

Biographies:
Corinne Post is Fred J. Springer Endowed Chair in Business Leadership and Professor of
Management in Villanova University. Her research addresses questions related to diversity and
diversity management, with a focus on women in leadership roles, on top management teams and
on organizational boards. She also examines how gender, race and ethnicity impact individual
work experiences and career trajectories. Her work explores the dynamics that emerge in teams
and organizations that are diverse in nature—with an emphasis on how those dynamics shape
the innovativeness and performance of the group as a whole. Her research has far-reaching
impact for academic and general audiences alike—appearing in leading scholarly journals like
the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, the Journal of Applied
Psychology and the Journal of Business Ethics, as well as in media outlets including Financial
Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes and BBC News.
Yasin Rofcanin is a Chaired Professor of Organisational Psychology and Human Resource
Management at the University of Bath School of Management. Born and educated in Istanbul
(Bogazici University), he completed my Ph.D. study at the Warwick Business School, University
of Warwick. His research focuses on employees’ proactive work approaches at work with a focus
on job crafting, ideals and well-being. His further stream of research integrates work-family
balance with current theories on human resource management and organisational psychology.
His research has been extensively published in top-tier journals, including the Journal of
Applied Psychology, Journal of Management Studies, Journal of Management, Human
Relations, Human Resource Management (USA), Human Resource Management Journal,
Journal of Organizational Behaviour and Journal of Vocational Behaviour. He serves as an
Editor-in-Chief of the Annual Review Issues for Human Relations and an Associate Editor for
the Journal of Management Studies. He has been a long-standing Editorial Board Member of the
major journals, including Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of
Vocational Behavior, Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, Journal of Occupational and
Organizational Psychology, Human Resource Management and Human Resource Management
Journal.
Chidibere (Chidi) Ogbonnaya is a Professor of Human Resource Management at King’s
Business School. His research covers a range of topics including strategic HRM, job quality,
employment relations, responsible leadership, well-being, and performance. Chidi’s research is
widely published in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Management, Human Relations,
Journal of Management Studies, Human Resource Management, Journal of Organizational
Behaviour, Human Resource Management Journal, and Journal of Vocational Behaviour. His
work has also been featured in reputable practitioner and media outlets, including Harvard
Business Review, Forbes, Financial Times, and The Times. Chidi has extensive editorial
experience, having previously served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business
Research and currently holding the same position for both Human Relations and the Journal of
Management Studies. He also serves on the editorial boards of several esteemed journals,
including the Human Resource Management Journal.
