The Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS) is holding a two day forum at the Møller Centre, Cambridge, UK, on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th March 2019. The aim of the Forum is to bring together management scholars from around the world to reflect upon the current state of management studies. Through analysis and evaluation we seek to generate discussion about alternatives, to imagine what the future of management studies might be, and to map out a research agenda to assist in developing the field.
The workshop will address two main themes:
- The Future of Management Education (including the relationship between education and practice, and education and technology); and
- The Future of Management Research and Publishing (including their relationship with practice, policy and other social and STEM sciences).
Participants will work in groups on sub-themes to discuss issues, challenges and opportunities, and to map out an agenda for the future. Our intention is to identify opportunities to take this work forward as an outcome of the Forum.
The Forum will involve members of SAMS and a range of scholars, invited on the basis of their specific interests and expertise. In addition, we have up to 10 places available for scholars who wish to participate and who feel that they can usefully contribute. Participants must be established scholars who hold a full-time academic position. The forum is not open to students. We hope to include both early-career academics and more senior scholars, across a range of management disciplines, and from a range of countries. All accommodation and meals will be paid for by SAMS. Reasonable travel costs, up to a maximum of £250 for participants from the UK and Europe and £500 for those from other parts of the world will also be covered on provision of receipts.

- A one-page statement, explaining why you would like to participate and what you feel you could contribute; and
- A one-page CV.

Expressions of interest must be received by 10th December 2018 and applicants will be notified of the outcome no later than 15th January 2019.
